How to enable kids to read words on their own?

    Hi all,
I have a six year old kid who is studying UKG. She was taught alphabets and some three letter words in the previous year (L.k.G). This year I find that she is been taught 6/5 letter words. She is good in phonics, in the sense that if i tell a word that she may not have heard she tells me the first character correctly. But if I ask her to read a word alphabet by alphabet and pronounce it totally she is unable to do so. Am i expecting too much out of my kid or is she lagging in something where i can help her ? My aim is that she should start reading words by herself. I am fine even if she falters initially on this.

    Thanks

Dear member, the kids can read on their own when you allow them to do so. You can allow them to watch kids cartoon which is educative in nature. You have to guide them when they are read the books. Correct them with love and care so that it can sink into their head.
