Lord Krishna is one of the Gods worshiped in Hindu Religion. His mother was Devaki and father Vasudeva. According to Religious book about Hinduism, the Vishnu Puran, the Lord Krishna was total incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was born as human on earth to wipe out all sin. Other major religious books those discuss about Lord Krishna are Bhagavata Purana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita and Garga Samhita etc.

Lord Krishna is also known as Govinda or Gopala. All scriptures portray him most often as a young boy playing flute, a god-child, a prankster and a model lover. Lord Krishna is worshipped as a divine hero and the Supreme Being. His birthday is celebrated on the day of Ashtami i.e. 8th Day of the month of Shravan in Zodia Calendar which normally falls in month of August / September. In his honor, this day is called as Krishna Janmashtami.

People worship on the birthday of Lord Krishna in temples; homes and shops are decorated to mark the occasion. In India, government offices observe holiday. People keep fast throughout the day. Various religious rituals are performed. Music played in the temples and at 12 midnight sweets and fruits are offered to God first then distributed among people. In temples dramas and music played, signifying life and charisma of Lord Krishna. Children make a must part of these dramas and plays.

The Play of Ras Leela concentrates around mischievous Young Lord Krishna while Dahi Handi represents his playful life as a kid. Places like Mathura and Vrindavan decorates up to full festive mood. Largest celebrations happen across all temples dedicated to Lord Krishna. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has many centres across India and the world to spread the teachings of Lord Krishna. The ISKCON temples see huge crowd on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami

According to legends, there was a Prince Kansa, who sent his father Ugrasen to jail and made himself the King. He was very cruel towards people in his Kingdom. Many other sins were also happening on earth. Saddened, the mother earth approached to Lord Vishnu in the form of a cow for help. Thus God Vishnu took birth from Devaki, killed Kansa and wiped sins. The stories of Lord Krishna have found great mentions in the Religious Book Bhagavad Gita, which is one of the largest books about Hindu Religion and Teachings.

The Lord Krishna left mother earth of February 17/18, 3102 BCE, that marks the end of Dvapara Yuga and the start of Kali Yuga i.e. the Modern Age.
