What is the right age for attempting IQ test for kids?

I am a mother of a 4 year old girl. My daughter shows good enthusiasm for learning songs and poems, but shows no interest at all in counting numbers. I was wondering if I can get her to attempt any IQ test or Aptitude test to know more about her inclination towards different subjects such as language, mathematics, science, arts, etc.

I presume, IQ test at very tender age can be stressful to the child. Hence I would like to know, What is the right age for attempting IQ test for my child?

  • It is very important to know the exact capability of a child before allowing them to attempt any test. It is also good not to force any child to take any test. The reason is that it might affect their reasoning and they will get tired easily. The best age for any child to start taking IQ test is 6.

If she likes poems and songs, numbers can also be given to her in an interesting way. There are lot of materials available in the market for number related activities. You can play online educational games also. You can introduce her to the world of numbers without making her aware of it. While cutting an apple, or a cake you can make her to count.

As far as I have seen, interest and enthusiasm keep on changing. Again if IQ is high, it does not mean she will be successful. It is a mere indicator. So try to develop here interest in all subjects.
