What is the exact cut off age for writing 10th class exam?

One of my relative has a daughter and she is short of just four months to complete 14 years when the actual 10th class exam would be held during 2025. The school has told the parents that they would try their best for the child to write the exam without losing the academic year. But normally the student has to complete 14 years of age while writing the exam. I call upon the members to discuss on the subject and also bring to the notice what rules are prevalent in their own state regarding the cut off age for writing 10th class exam.

As per the CBSE guidelines the age of student as on 31st december of the academic year should be 14 years or more. It seems that states have some minor changes from it but most of them would ask completion of 14 years either on 1st October or by the exam month that is 1st March. In any case the students would be completing 14 years before the exam.

Mohan, there are two other sister sites which are starving for activity. They are India Travel Blog and Free Health Channel. If you have time just have a look there. Some old members have come back there after we knocked at their doors.

Earlier days there was no RTE rules related to the age criteria. Now the age is also considered along with 6 months. For Lkg it is 3years six months, check accordingly. This is also considered based on the admission year and age at the time of admission.
The children who are admitted earlier may not have problems.

If the child has to be of 3 years and 6 months at the admission time in LKG then it means that he has to be of 14 years and 6 months while taking admission in 10th class. So, in that case he would appear in the 10th exam only by the age of approximately 15 years and 3 months assuming that exams are held in March month.
