A request to all the members of Studyvillage.com

    Hello,

I am Sat Koch and joined Studyvillage.com yesterday. I am a member at Indiastudychannel too. While exploring the site I came across a very big mistake being made by some fellow members. Some of the members are writing the name of persons ( their own name and the name of the person whom they are addressing to) and places improperly.

This site is basically meant to be used by English speaking people of other countries. It would not portray a good image of the site and its members in the eyes of a reader, if he/she finds that the contributor uses the first letter of his own name / someone else name / name of a place in lower case. It will lessen the credibility of the site and that of the contributor, too.

As this is an initial/testing stage of the site ( which I am presuming), we all can rectify this mistake to make this site a lot more credible by writing as perfectly as we can. So, it is my humble request to all my fellow members to use uppercase/capital letter for the first letter of all the names ( whether it is a name of a person or a place) and if possible, use a spellchecker and a grammar checker.

E.g. sat koch and Sat koch are both wrong and should be written as Sat Koch.

@ Editors, please send a private message to all the fellow members especially those who are doing this out of ignorance, whenever you come across such mistake.

I apologize for the unintentional hurt caused by this message, in advance, if any.

Come on you all fellow members, let us make this site a big hit.

    Regards,

    Sat Koch

You are right Mr. Sat Koch. Capitalization is very important in content writing. And I want to add a line here. Please use StudyVillage instead of Studyvillage or Study village or Study Village. Nothing but something!

    Hello Mr. Nitheesh,

Thank you for agreeing to my viewpoint on using uppercase letters in the beginning of a name.

But I do not agree with you on the point that Studyvillage should be written as StudyVillage with v being in uppercase in the middle of a word. I had used the name of the site in full i.e. Studyvillage.com. Studyvillage is a single word in the name of the site and not 2 different words (without a space between the two words) and you cannot use a capital letter in the middle of a word.

If they were two different words like Study village or say Morena village or Delhi city even then one does not need to use v in uppercase in case of village or c in uppercase in case of city as you are using the word village/city after the name.

This is my viewpoint. I am open to learning new things and would not mind in admitting a mistake if I am wrong.

I would request other members to share their views, here, on this topic.

    Regards,

    Sat Koch.

It is not a rule in English but usually we will capitalize the middile letter when it is being a name of a website. For eg, you can see that, in the website futurebazaar.com, they have written their title name as FutureBazaar. No need to go abroad, just look at the names of ISC network websites. ISC is written as IndiaStudyChannel or MWC is written as MyWindowsClub or SVG itself is written as StudyVillage. Look at the top of the Facebook plugin in our website. Usually it is the case. But it is not a rule at all and I too will accept your views if I am wrong.

    Mr. Nitheesh,

You yourself have said that it is not a rule in English, which settles the issue for me.

Leave aside FutureBazaar, IndiaStudyChannel or MWC written as MyWindowsClub or SVG as StudyVillage ( in my view all these words are wrongly written). Just open the Facebook log in page and see for yourself. Nowhere it is written as FaceBook.

Moreover, the discussion is needlessly going in the wrong direction. My only point in the original request was to use uppercase letter for the first letter of the name of a person or a place. Period and Thank you.

    Regards,
    Sat Koch
