How to handle children staying in residential schools?
Residential schools are playing most significant role in imparting better education and creating a good citizen of a country. Govt. of India’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sainik School is some residential education programs, which supports rural and urban students with a minimal fee structure but better educational system. However, there are some duties and responsibilities of parents while after sending their child to a residential school. Some of the most important points mentioned here.
There are many numbers of private and Govt. residential schools and colleges in India, which undertakes best educational and extracurricular activities to nurture a child as the finest. However, parents should not ignore their child just sending in to the hostel or residential schools. Most of the parents do not have sufficient time to teach their child, due to which they are bound to join their child in residential schools. This does not imply completion of their duties and responsibilities. This is because; most of the children do not have interest to stay away from their home. In addition, after entering in to different environment, their zeal, behavior, attitude, and character somehow changes within a short interval. Their parents should notify these changes and differences; and act what suits to the child superior.
Most important points to be remembered by the parents, which child is staying in residential schools, are –1. Do not force the child to stay
Parents know what they doing well for their children. Children are not aware of this and their future. Actually, the whole reason for this is due to lack of time near parent and better education for child. For which, parents are spending lots of money towards this. However, if the child is not ready to move away from home, then what action the parent should perform?
First, try to motive and keep distance or strictness with your child. As you know the fact, you should avoid and control of yourself. Second, observe for first week, then second week, then for the quarter and for the month. Is there any differences appear in your child? If yes, then meet friendly and contact frequently. If not, try to meet regularly for a short period, and then make a distance from them. After a period, it will become a habit for them.2. Act friendly with your child
Never hurt your child as they are staying away from you most of the time. Parents must act and talk friendly with their child. In case of any mistake or issue created by your child at school, do not interfere or involve in the matter. Try to disperse the matter with the help of management and staff. Involving parents in the child's issue can cause the child arrogant and can do more mistakes in future. Stay away as you know nothing about that issue. However, keep a glance on them, for future concern.3. Compare the scores with previous one
After joining at residential school, compare the assignment scores of your child with previous scores. Analyze, and inform the same to the class teacher and house warden. If the score is good and improving, there is no problem. Otherwise, show your child's previous mark-sheet to the class teacher and discuss regarding the poorer obtained marks subject.
Try to consult regularly with class teacher and house warden for developing the scores. However, do not attempt transfer of school in between the academic year of your child. It can cause a big mistake and trouble in children's education and academic matter.4. Check weekly and monthly assignment reports
Check the weekly and monthly assignment reports regularly, which can say the child's growth or diminution. As per the statistics, parents need to consult the teacher and make concentrate over the poor subjects. 5. Check the diet and health status
Some first-rate schools provide good nutritious diet and regular health checkups, whereas some ordinary schools are not conscious of these things.
Apart from this, parents know what their child likes and dislike food. Try to provide home food very little. Make conscious the child about nutritious food and make habit of that. Inform the diet habit and health status to the warden and management. In case of any medication, inform them to provide regularly without any delay. If the school located in malaria or plague areas, give preventive drugs and other securities such as antibacterial hand wash, body lotions, mosquito nets, etc. give seasonal precautions such as winter and rainy dress materials.6. Consult house warden and class teacher regularly
Meeting and consulting class teacher and house warden is most essential job for a parent. For every occurrence, parents must ask, know, and say their teachers. It may be concerning health matter, scoring issues, or any other topics.
Wardens are the guardians of children. If the child is un-matured, doesn't know about self-caring and importance of education, health, diet, uniform etc. tell the house warden about the same and follow the same until get determined. 7. Do not show your sympathy in front of your child
While leaving after joining or meeting child, some parents mostly mothers weep in front of the child, as they could not keep control the motherly sentiment. Better, try to keep control and do not react in front the child, as they are also very sensitive and consider heartily after the separation. This can create psychological sick to the child. 8. Fix a particular day for meet
It is very common, that parents love their child extremely and wants to get together frequently. However, this can create a home-seek nature in child. Better, fix a particular day in a month such as, first or second Sunday for meet. 9. Do not give imported or costly items
Giving gifts and items to children in their birthday or special day is very common in every family. Parents should appraise over the assignment results and give some suitable gifts that can utilize towards educational purpose. Other than this, the parents must ban giving imported and costly items to the children strictly. 10. Do not go for unnecessary leaves
There are many ceremonies, & functions take place commonly in our society and family. However, participation of children in every function is not so necessary. Parents should aware of this, and must not inform about every function and take leaves repeatedly. It may create the academic failure or breakdown of the child.
