Nine days and night festival named ‘Navratri' celebrated by hindus with the worship of ‘Goddess Shakti‘ or ‘Maa Durga'. This festival is celebrated twice a year in India. Once in Hindi month of Chaitra i.e. March-April and secondly in the month of Ashwin i.e. September-October according to English Calendar. The Festival celebrated with immense joy over the country. Devotees observe fast for nine days too.
First day is the worship day of Goddess Durga, Second day for Goddess Parvati, third for Maa Kali, Forth day for Maa Laxmi, fifth day for Maa Saraswati and Maa Laxmi, Sixth day again for Maa Laxmi, Seventh again for Maa Saraswati and eighth day celebrated as Durga Ashtami and finally on ninth day nine Kanyas (small young girls) assumed as nine forms of Goddess Durga feed and worshiped.
Like other festivals, a story also associated with this festival. As per legends Maa Durga's has killed a buffalo headed demon named Mahishasura after continue fight for nine days. This way, it is a festival of victory of good over evils.
