Pongal is a harvest festival which is one of the major celebrations of Tamilians in Tamil Nadu. The celebrations of Pongal mainly includes feasting, gift giving, visiting friends and relatives homes, Kolam decorations in front of houses etc. Pongal dish which is made of cardamom, jaggery, and cashew nuts is also special and important which is the part of Pongal celebrations where this sweet dish is made and dedicated to the sun god, Surya.
