Teaching composition in a new way!!!

Self Expression

I teach English to Grade 3 and 4 students in Alexandria, Egypt. Their English is very weak and their spellings and grammar call for help. I have a great idea of connecting them to their peers in another country who are also learning English and introducing them to one another as penfriends. If encouraged to write to someone their age they will develop self expression. They will learn to ask and answer questions and thus their English will improve.

A warm welcome to you in this great educational site for children. You have given your great initiative that would help the children to learn the language through them self. At present most of the schools are in the way going back behind the marks and keep on doing revision of the book portion this is not good and at the time of practical conversation they really face problems & these can be avoided by this types of works that you have mentioned. Thank you and keep continuing you way.
(Great thing to be known from here is that the popularity of this site has reached other countries before it has been announced by the webmaster and the example is the present author itself).

This is creative idea you have started with your students. As English is an international language, it has to be learnt by every one, one can see this total world without hurdle to their vision.

In my class I placed a mailbox in which each student is welcomed to write notes to his or her mates. The notes are received and answered by the students for encouragement. It lets them want to read and write English

It is very important that children learn to ask questions in English. They must have the courage to ask as well as answer and the only way is for them to learn.

You can also ask them to frame words with four alphabets together and so on increase the numbers. This is a better way to improve vocabulary. You can start the first word for them with first two letters.

Frame a four letter word starting with : Li
then they will write lion, limp, like, lime as so on.

There are many ways to encourage a child to start using English by playing and chatting and just using the language in different ways. They could sing different group songs too to teach them to express themselves in English as they do in their own first language. They then start to speak to think to do things in the language rather than just answering homework exercises.
