We can see that many students who are very intelligent cannot do well in writing assignments as they do not have good vocabulary.
Vocabulary sharpens your communication, opens your mind and helps you to get the results. You can also express your thoughts in a good manner if you have sufficient knowledge of words. You become able to play with words if you have good vocabulary.
Parents help the child to develop and improve the vocabulary as we are the first from whom child learn to speak or uses of words. When trying to help your child to develop his or her vocabulary, the best way to help your child is to simply talk to them, more you talk more the child will gain. Tips to improve child vocabulary
There are lots of things or activities which you can do to improve your child vocabulary, here are some tips which will help you to improve the child vocabulary.
1. Create creative and enjoyable activities that will help to increase your child's vocabulary and help you to better bond with your child.
2. Play the vocabulary games like Scrabble, Boggle, Charades, and Crosswords these will motivate your child to learn new words.
3. Whenever you go out with your child let him be free to watch the new thing and after coming back ask him about the things which he explore, this make him to learn new words.
4. When he read any unfamiliar word ask whether he know the meaning of that word this will make him to learn something new and the next time he will not hesitate to read the unfamiliar word.
5. Good conversation will surely improve the vocabulary of your child. Never underestimate the importance of good conversation and information to the development of vocabulary.
6. If possible than label everything in your house as your child will get more words to read and learn.
7. Talk to your child about a variety of things using new words. Try to use words in a context that will enable them to deduce the meaning of the word.
8. Do not force your child to learn too many words in a single day make him comfortable and let him to learn according to his own capacity.
9. Substitute alternate words for the common words. Explain to your child that both words mean the same thing.
10. Do not become irritate if your child ask the meaning of each and every word which he reads, just tell him the meaning calmly
11. Always appreciate your child for learning a new word, this will motivate the child and he will try to learn some more words to gain your appreciation.
Remember Parents are the first teachers of their kids so if you use good words or vocabulary for conversation your kids will motivate to do the same. Try to be in more conversation with them and do not hesitate to tell them the meaning of new words.
